Hiking Kilimambogo

Waridi

We set off for what I was told was a brief hike, I was very new to hiking so I was both nervous and excited altogether. The journey to the foot of the hill was short, so we got to the hiking trail in good time. After a few stretches we got into the trail in real time.

No one prepared me enough for what was to come my way. The trail was not welcoming at all, there was no love at first sigh, no trying to make a good impression. No sooner did we start off than I soon realized that the trail was intensely steep to set off. The slopes were so tough I almost thought to give up. Thanks to an amazing company of cheerful hikers we went alongside that gave me the strength to keep moving.

An hour later on, the trails begun to get friendly and less steep. Moments later we started getting better views of where we were coming from. Kilimambogo or better known as Ol Donyo Sabuk, is a hill properly set above vast plains all around it and that view gets better as you continue hiking up the hill. The reward for the hike was the view at the top of the mountain, what I heard about the hill is no understatement it is the ultimate panoramic view.

The downhill trail was no mean feet either, the route called for great balance and the last stretches equally came in handy to relax the feet from the great strain. The hike was a rewarding experience and I have since determined to go for more hiking.

Thanks to Maape Adventures for amazing planning, logistics and guiding through the hike.
