Nairobi Gamedrive

Amy Simmons

I was visiting Nairobi for a work related conference for three days and my friends suggested that we should go for a game drive at the Nairobi National Park. It was my first time in Africa and I had not gone for a safari before. My experience of wildlife was also not huge, the only animals I knew about were the ones we see in zoos back at home. So I was super charged up when my friends brought up the idea of a game drive before our flight back home.

We started the game drive pretty early just before the day break we checked into the park. We were welcomed by Nairobi's beautiful sunrise that seems to set off from the horizon of the park. Once we got into the park we started seeing some beautiful animals. The gazelles grazing around the fields, the giraffes gathered around the thorny trees and birds singing beautifully in the air. The hippos swimming in the water, and those animals are so huge when they come out of the water. The crocodiles were spending themselves busking in the sun not very far from the hippos. We saw a bunch of rhinos and one was seriously guarding her calf. But the most amazing experience was when we bumped into a group of lions on the road, walking majestically and quietly. It was such a beautiful sight to behold and I enjoyed every moment of it. It's now on my plan to travel back to Kenya for another experience of this. Thanks to Maape Adventures for such a beautiful experience.
